Job Description

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Working closely with the Operations Manager, this role will take responsibility for implementing all continuous improvement activities for the business. Developing and delivering the CI strategy primarily through the hands on implementation of continuous improvement tools, techniques and philosophies to deliver tangible, significant, benefits in operational efficiencies, workforce engagement & business profitability. Support operations as required, potentially leading production operations on occasion, deputizing as requested for the operations manager and developing to be a potential successor for the operations manager.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To drive production efficiency, quality and work force engagement through developing manufacturing methods:

  • Ensure safety is a priority at all times
  • Develop continuous improvement strategy and programme of activity to achieve.
  • Identify, design & test new production methods / tools
  • Own 5s to drive production efficiency, leading of teams to drive and sustain change
  • Ensures KPIs are in place to validate improvement activity
  • Analyse and update route timings to check accuracy of production planning aim to identify reasonable to end performance to measure against.
  • Through analysis of routes, map key areas or products, spot opportunities to improve and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistent improvements
  • Focus attention on areas that have most inaccuracy or where most resource is required maximize efficiency gains for the whole production entity
  • Ensure the operational lay out is suitable for a highly efficient and defect free environment.
  • Improve levels of engagement with colleagues so that their ideas can be harvested and implemented to improve the overall efficiency of the business.
  • Lead Kaizen activities for production areas / small teams
  • Take on internal quality improvement projects, using appropriate tools (A3, 8D etc) and processes collaborating with colleagues across the business.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY SKILLS

  • Degree in Engineering, ideally manufacturing engineering, manufacturing systems or similar.
  • Previous experience & understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Statistical knowledge able to apply statistics to product and process improvement projects
  • Ability to work on several projects at once
  • Strong people skills to build rapport with people at all levels of the organization
  • High attention to detail, with great ownership, delivering on promises
  • Data driven in approach to problem solving and quantifying results
  • Influencing and Analytical skills
  • Flexible in approach, able to learn from others and personally continuously improve.
