Salary £26,080 up to £31,785

A hands-on role full of variety and the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable training in a wide range of clay processing operations, the use of mobile plant, 4x4 vehicle driving and team leadership.

What you'll be doing

As Operative (drying process) you'll be working with the team on the full operation of the main tube press as well as across a variety of process systems such as pumping, drier and wet scrubber, vacuum and air systems. You'll be handling machinery such as heat exchangers, pumps and overhead cranes and undertaking minor semi-skilled engineering tasks using a selection of hand and power tools.

You'll also provide cover for the Operative (wet stock) role in times of absence where you'll be responsible for maintaining "wet stocks" and the incoming quality and conditioning of the "wet feed", undertaking clay sampling, daily record keeping, setting up log sheets and liaising with the Production Supervisor, production teams and shift members.

The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and this role includes day and night shifts across a 4-week rotating shift pattern.

Your skills and experience

Experience of working in an industrial environment, using manual and automated machinery is important. You'll also possess the motivation and commitment to undertake training across several areas: Alfa Laval 320 operation, Effluent Treatment Plant, Wet Screening, Sampling and Chemical Treatment Systems. Mobile plant licences are ideal however training can be provided.

You'll:

  • have strong health, safety and environmental awareness
  • possess NVQ level 2 Process Operations or the willingness to gain
  • be willing to undertake Lead my Team training
  • be able to work at height
  • be computer literate
  • hold a full clean UK driving licence
  • have 4 x 4 vehicle driving experience or be willing to be trained
