Client-Side Project Manager

Civil & Infrastructure Major Projects (£100mil+)

Highways / Rail / Utilities / Civil Engineering experience desirable

A world leading client side infrastructure business are currently looking to strengthen their Project Management talent within their Major Projects directorate.
The business is responsible of the initiation and delivery of national infrastructure asset investments. Their major project directorate form part of the UK governments Major Project Portfolio, true flagship schemes of political, infrastructure and economical importance.

The opportunities within the programme can be varied and include working as part of a wider delivery team on £100 mil Highway schemes or managing regional highway projects and being allocated your own project to deliver with a high degree of autonomy.

Exciting opportunity to deliver schemes, work on major flagship projects and transition in to large programmes due to significant investment in infrastructure the client will be continually looking to develop internally and can offer a genuine platform for career progression.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor the performance of multiple external contractors and consultants, and ensure effective governance of their supply chain
  • Design agree and implement project plans
  • Contribute to development of business cases, identifying key benefits and project interdependencies
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks
  • Oversee feasibility, design and assessment of work for proposed projects at early stage
  • Liaise with Senior Project Manager & Programme Manager for their Major Projects directorate
  • Upskill and develop Graduate & Assistant Project Managers

The ideal candidates will have;

  • Demonstrable evidence of leading and managing teams in the development of complex infrastructure projects.
  • Exposure to early stage contract involvement of complex projects right the way through to completion.
  • NEC Contractual knowledge
  • Experience of managing and maintaining agreed project plans and detailed stages plan
  • Managing supply chains
  • Commercial acumen to lead and negotiate to deliver outcomes and achieve value for money
