ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with the Operations Manager, this role will take full responsibility for all Operational procurement & supplier management activities. Ensuring excellent quality, service & cost effective spend.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing a large portfolio of suppliers
Sourcing and negotiating with existing suppliers, challenging prices where relevant
Ensuring suppliers adhere to quality, service, and best practice initiatives
Participate in cost down initiatives with production & logistics
Optimize stockholding volumes to balance cost/space/working capital
Managing performance of the supplier base
Initiating RFQ, product enquiries and specialist project work
Procurement of standard and non-standard bespoke items
Carrying out supplier benchmarking activities
Reporting to Operations Manager and management team on key metrics, with statistical analysis
Support the business with development & execution of procurement strategy. Focus on risk mitigation & continuous improvement.
Maximizing profitability and minimizing risk to the Business
Supporting stock control and administration activities
Manage procurement forecast to ensure correct supply of goods
Managing supplier quality to understand root cause and eliminate reoccurrences.
Manage Assistant Buyer, providing coaching & guidance
Reviewing technical specifications for materials, components, or equipment, working alongside the Engineering department where required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Previous procurement experience
Previous experience in Manufacturing Procurement environment desirable
Experience of MRP systems & MS Excel essential
Excellent communication skills, both verbally & written.
Be able to work well as part of a team, but also use their own initiative.
Confident working in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
Methodical & Analytical with a high attention to detail Influencing and Analytical skills
Flexible in approach, able to learn from others and personally continuously improve.
Prepared to continually try new initiatives to gain benefit
