An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Automation Engineer to join an established manufacturing organisation where you will become the subject matter expert for all controls systems, sensors, PLCs, communication protocols, and automation for the site.
The key function of the Automation Engineer will be to identify, develop and implement new technology into the plant to assist in continuous improvement of process to realise efficiency and performance improvements.
Further responsibilities include:
Take ownership for all current manufacturing software and shop floor control systems
Programming, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance PLCs (Siemens), HMIs, SCADAs etc.
Maintain detailed documentation and backups of systems, configurations, and procedures.
Write code in programming languages ranging from C, SQL and VB scripting
Work with maintenance personnel to improve knowledge on intermediate to advanced automation, controls and robotics (ABB)
Lead the deployment and integration of new technologies and systems
Ideally, candidates will be HNC/HND or degree qualified in Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related field of study. Further to this candidates should have experience in programming/modifying PLC controlled processes.
