Job Description:

Ensure minimal indirect spend and inventory as well as best on time delivery for indirect goods and services. Secure the best value for money service deals for the company.

Key Role Requirements:

  • Competitive bid indirect requirements, coming via electronic purchase requisitions from the other teams or via the capital expenditure form
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage meaningful contracts with suppliers to ensure best total price and service levels
  • Support the Direct Purchasing Manager when required and be their absence cover
  • Support Head of Purchasing with augmentation of Purchasing strategy and deployment
  • Coordinate the on-site integrated supplier (manage the on-site team, monitor service levels, cost saving activities)
  • Identify cost savings opportunities on our indirect expenditure and action them, leading projects from start to finish, involving all stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key indirect suppliers
  • Identify and evaluate potential new suppliers / dual sourcing
  • Identify opportunities to reduce indirect inventory and implement effective actions to achieve these reductions
  • Ensure compliance to sourcing and contracting policies, procedures, risk management programs, and ethics
  • Identify potential risks in contracts and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Prepare regular reports on contract status, performance and savings achieved
  • Identify 'best for business' solutions and trade off evaluations

Education:

  • A Batchelors Degree, or higher, in Business, Supply Chain Management, Law or a related field
  • CIPS level 5 or higher desired

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge:

  • Experience in indirect procurement in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional projects.
  • Good business acumen
  • Strong understanding of UK contract law and procurement regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of ABC XYZ classification and real-world management of optimisation strategies.
  • Capital expenditure budgeting and approval procedures.
