Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with a world leading engineering company to recruit a Project Controls Manager in Cumbria. As the Project Controls Manager, you'll lead on the implementation and management of effective project controls measures relating to scope, cost, time, risk and quality.

The Project Control Manager plays a crucial role in delivering civil nuclear/defence projects role comes with a salary up to 55,000, 35 days annual leave (inc BH) and unrivalled progression routes.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager you will:
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with project teams to define project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Monitor and update project schedules to reflect project progress and changes.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and reporting on financial performance.
  • Analyse project costs and variances and implement cost control measures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including cost-to-complete estimates.
  • Monitor and report on project risks, issues, and change requests.
  • Generate regular progress reports, including project status, risks, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives, deliverables, and expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to project management processes, standards, and best practices.


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:
  • APM Project Management Qualification is essential (PQM)
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent practical Mechanical Engineering experience
is desirable.

Personal skills

The Project Controls Manager role would suit someone who is:
  • Has knowledge of project controls approaches and practices,
such as planning/ scheduling management, cost management, risk management and analysis, performance management, change management and configuration control.
  • Management of projects over 10M
  • Experienced in a Mechanical Engineering or similar position.
